Rehabilitation Vocational Counselor In our society, there are people and especially young teenagers that are in barriers of employment and live a life with disabilities. Rehabilitation Vocational Counselors help individuals learn how assist individuals with disabilities to gain or regain their independence through employment or in some form to help them to interaction in the society world. The ultimate goals are in preventing potential disability; returning workers with disabilities to gainful employment, introducing individuals with disabilities into the labor force, and keeping workers with illness and disabilities employed. Some can allow for a person with a bachelor’s degree to be acceptable in most fields to enter a master’s level program. Those that obtain a bachelor degree can be hired in certain employers in rehabilitation disability studies. They can only perform a certain extent of services such as: teach the students about issues that people with disabilities face and about the process providing rehabilitation. A few of the course requirements in becoming a rehabilitation counselor will first start in earning a bachelor’s degree in counseling. Then the students will move on forward in taking courses that will interest their area. For example, if you are wanting to specialize in an area of working with consumers that have either learning disability or autism. You will either take courses in those areas. Master’s degree programs teach students the theories, skills, and techniques to provide effective mental counseling. These programs also train evaluating clients’ needs formulating and implementing job placement strategies, and understanding the medical and psychological aspects of a disability. Those providing counseling services to clients and patients must attain a license through their state licensing board. Other services provided by rehabilitation counselors, however, may be exempt from state licensing requirements. Rehabilitation counselors providing only vocational rehabilitation services or job placement assistance, for example, may not need a license. Licensure requires a master’s degree and 2,000 to 4,000 hours of supervised clinical experience. In addition, counselors must pass a state-recognized exam and complete annual continuing education credits. Applicants should contact the state licensing boards for information on what services or counseling positions require
