For disrespecting the court and lying to save her husband’s name, she was hanged. Elizabeth Proctor born in 1652, She is a person who fired Abigail Williams for having an affair with her husband. Abigail would say that she is a person with a cold personality. She was the third wife of John Proctor who lived on a farm.

The plot of this story is about a group of girls who went into the forest led by a black slave named Tituba. They were all dancing in the forest until Reverend Parris caught them dancing in the forest and even saw one of the girl naked. Parris’s daughter Betty who was there in the forest falls into a coma-like state when Reverend Parris caught them. Reverend Parris only noticed his daughter was sick the next day and accused Abigail William, who is Reverend Parris’s niece, of witchery and caused his daughter to go into a coma-like state.

John Proctor’s wife, Elizabeth, shares his strict adherence to justice and moral principles (Sundstrand). She is a woman who has great confidence in her own morality and in the ability of an individual to maintain a sense of righteousness, both internal and external, even when this principle conflicts with strict Christian doctrine (Sundstrand).
Abigail Williams accused John Proctor of participating in witchcraft. Seven months earlier Proctor had an affair with Abigail who worked as his maid. When John’s wife Elizabeth Proctor found out, she fired Abigail immediately. This left Elizabeth feeling doubtful of John.
Character Analysis of Elizabeth Proctor In the play, The Crucible, Elizabeth Proctor is the wife of John, who committed adultery with a 17 year old girl, Abigail Williams. Elizabeth is a dynamic character in the play, who changes her view on her husband’s wrongdoing when instead of blaming it all on him she takes some of the blame and says the some of her insecurities stopped her from believing in his love. Although she’s cold, Goody Proctor is a good wife to John, staying loyal through his trial and his imprisonment.
