Religion is affecting schools, courts, politics, and communities. It is influencing the way people live their life in many ways. It spreads and is introduced in many forms. For centuries, many people have found comfort in religion. However, I believe that in terms of comfort, secularism and science have more to offer because religion is viral and harmful. Secularism is the principle of the separation of government and religion. Secularism offers comfort for people because it respects individuals and the groups of which they are a part. In times of tragedy, secular people do not pressure others into joining a religion. In times of struggle, secularism provides comfort by allowing children to be equipped with the skills to think for themselves. Children can think critically of the situation and not be afraid to look for the help they need without pressure of feeling discriminated. In times of grief, non-believers can resort to support networks. The support networks allow non-believers to share memories, thoughts, feelings, conflicts, and more about the person they are grieving, without religious affiliation. It is a nation of many faiths and none because it defends freedom of religious identity, but not the freedom to impose that identity on others. It allows for people in times of struggle not be put down because they are not part of a certain group. It allows those people to receive the benefits that they need. When people communicate and speak about their beliefs in religion, it is influencing others by informing them with ideas and morals their religion holds. In the act of religious rituals, people are performing events in which they have no evidence on. They also do not have evidence if what they are doing it is actually going to affect them in the future. In the religion Judaism the mikvah, a ritual cleansing bath, is one of the oldest practices in Jewish life. The mikvah is said to endow marital relations with a special religious significance. In Orthodox practice, the wife must immerse herself in the mikvah monthly following her menstrual cycle in order to resume marital relations. Similarly, the mikvah is used when an individual converts to Judaism, celebrating the person's new life as a Jew. Believers imitate and repeat what others do because it makes them feel good. Religion spreads virally through pressure because people are continuously looked at negatively because they are a minority in an area that is heavily influenced by religion. People also feel pressure because they want to feel good when uncertain of what happens in situations without a solution.
