Opening Statement:
I will introduce my topic by having an introductory slide showing artwork of the miracles which have occurred within various different cultures. In doing so, it will provide a broad spectrum as to what I will be discussing. These pictures will resemble my statement that all religions and cultures have experienced some form of miraculous event. Secondly, I will state that there are well known and scarcely known miracles within many different faiths as well. By showing these images, the class is able to gain a certain perspective about the variety of miracles I will be discussing as the presentation continues. In order to do this, I will ask the class to raise their hands if they have experienced anything they consider to be miraculous. This allows the class to relate to the presentation on a personal level. Furthermore, this may trigger their curiosity as to how their experiences relate to the many individuals which I will be presenting to them. To further my knowledge, I will be creating a homemade book which discusses several miracles of different religions. The book will touch on how these miracles relate to one another as well as their moral significance. This will allow the class to develop questions and become engaged based on the content of the book. As I present, this book will be passed around the class. The objective of this is to help the class gather information which they feel is important for their journal reflections. Finally, before I begin to expand on my topic, I will hand out cards to each of the students. On these cards, I will ask the class to write down any miracles they feel they’ve experienced. In continuation, the class will be asked to write their definition of a miracle. Once everyone is finished, I will collect the cards and read out some of their descriptions. The point of this quick activity is to show the diversity of miracles and opinions as to what a miracle really is. This will flow perfectly with the introduction to my information. The three main religions that will be discussed are Hinduism, Judaism and Christianity. Islam and Buddhism will also be discussed in less extensive
