The Renaissance era was the end of the Middle Ages and was the beginning of the contemporary period. It was a time where cultural movements flourished and the intellectual basis—humanism—arose. Humanism was a movement that believed that the human mind had limitless potential. It gave humans more freedom rather than following dogmas and superstitions. It was the start of the more scientific and logical age, based on evidence rather than beliefs and religion.
The Middle Ages was a dark time period. It was dark because education and culture were beginning to decline drastically. This is evident in document #1. As it states,”Europe suffered a decline in commerce and manufacturing, in education, in literature and the arts, and in almost all that makes possible a high civilization”. This detail demonstrates that the decline in education caused the civilizations to not reach their best potential and education began to become really rare to find as it was only accessible/available in Churches.

People were treated and respected differently according to their class(OI). There were special relationships and responsibilities that everyone had. In the Middle Ages feudalism affected people’s lives economically, socially, and politically.
The start of the Renaissance was filled with horror and death, but by the end everyone started to believe in Humanism and in themselves. When Humanism started art, literature, astronomy, and anatomy started to evolve and become more and more true (ren. packet).Before the Renaissance started to evolve everyone thought that they were full of sin and that everyone should die (doc. The Medieval Ages were a time where many things like romance, art, music, poetry, disease and death all thrived. Everyone in this time period had a different point of view on it. Some thought it was a golden age, some thought it was an age of feudalism, and some also thought it was a dark age. Yes, this time may have had its ups, but it also had many, many downs. Its darkest times consisted of Barbarian invasions, death, and wars.
In conclusion, the art of the Renaissance evolved very much in a very short amount of time, leaving viewers speechless when looking at the art of this period. The next reason the Renaissance changed man’s view of man was through man’s inner nature. At this time, many great people such as William Shakespeare, Leonardo Da Vinci, and Andreas Vesalius changed man’s view of the world through artwork, science, and plays. The Renaissance changed man’s view of man because, in the plays of this time, man turned to humanism, thinking that they were better than everything on earth and could do things by themselves. Humanism is the belief that humans have the right and responsibility to bring happiness and shape to their lives.

Study of the classicals, mostly the Greco-Romans, were increasingly popular among the people of Europe; humanism was then starting to take shape. In the Renaissance the values and purposes of education was emphasized by humanists, who wants to use it to improve society, economic increased, and above all, to be able to restore religious beliefs.

The High Renaissance was about naturalism and the artists from that time captured that ideal in impeccable detail, creating art that was and still is something to marvel at. One example of this is Leonardo da Vinci's Madonna of the Rocks (Fig 17-2, 1483-1490, oil on wood (transferred to canvas)). Madonna is an amazing work in which da Vinci captured the softness of the moment perfectly in the expressions and movements of the characters as well as the lighting of the scene. Another work from the High Renaissance that shows off incredible detail is Raphael's Philosophy, also known as School of Athens (Fig 17-9, 1509-1511, Fresco). Raphael's imagining of this gathering of great minds is large in scope and detail.

This term is used to call this period from late 14th century to 16th century. Humanism plays a principal role in the Renaissance period. It took place in the “quarter century between 1495 and the death of Leonardo da Vinci in 1519 and Raphael in 1520” (Kleiner 600). During these times, artist reached what is now known as “fine arts” and their artwork gave them prestige because it paired with the high status that only poetry had held. Artist-genius emerged in Italy during the Renaissance and they became known internationally, some great examples are Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael and Michelangelo.
Essay 2 The Renaissance and the Enlightenment are two important changing point in European History where people discovered new art forms and invented the latest technology. Both the Renaissance and the Enlightenment contributed many important things to European culture.
