Loss Of Being
In today’s world, we are able to connect with others by use of song, books movies, and so much more. But are these sources able to connect to each other? in the novel, montana 1948, there are many situations that people are able to relate to even today. The main character david has to go through his family tearing apart and losing their love for him, his loss of innocence, lies, and rampant entitlement in his family. As readers are able to connect to what david is going through, there are many songs in the world today that the events of the book are tied to and that individuals not only as music listeners can connect to, but individuals as readers can connect to as well. in the book, montana 1948, a reoccurring theme is the loss of innocence. from a very early age, david is expected to understand the difficulty of what is happening to his family, and handle it well. David goes though realizing what his uncle had done to marie little soldier, and possibly other women, and he no longer is able to look up to his uncle as he used to. After Frank is being held in their basement, David must once again deal with the fact that his grandparents no longer approve of anything his side of the family does because of what they have done to Frank. The hayden boys are used to getting and being able to do whatever they want because of how prestigious their family name is. This is shown very clearly when grandpa hayden expects Wes to bypass the law and allow frank to do whatever he wants because he is a war hero and a part of the hayden family.
