Chihuahua: The growing giant of the aerospace industry
To this day, the aerospace industry in Mexico has grown significantly compared to its state in 2008. By the end of 2014, the industry exports amounted to USD 6,366 million, while in 2008 the exports ascended only to USD 3,082 million. This means that over the course of 6 years the industry has managed to double its exports and maintain a steady growth. The physical evidence of this can be seen in the increasing number of companies which have established in the country. Right now, there are 302 companies in the Mexican aerospace industry. The majority of these companies are located mainly in 5 states: Chihuahua, Baja California, Sonora, Queretaro, and Nuevo Leon.
The most productive aerospace cluster to the day is Baja California, having an estimate of USD 1,533 million in exports each year. Baja California also has the presence of 76 out of the 302 companies currently investing in Mexico and has access to the Pacific Ocean which allows them to move easily trough the west coast by means of airplanes, trains, trucks, …show more content…

Different from Baja California, Chihuahua doesn’t have access to the sea, but it’s able to compensate in other areas such as the air and land routes. The state of Chihuahua is located within similar distance from the east and west coast, allowing them to extend a commercial path to either side of the country. This results in an interesting advantage because of the possibility of having investment not only from the United States, but from countries facing either the Pacific Ocean or the Atlantic. The state also has the largest frontier with the United States, which means having 10 border crossing points and 5 ports of entry to the US.
