Gender inequalities is a social problem because it is an issue that affects me, as well as everyone around me. Starting from when we grow up, it seems that many families, especially those who come from a traditional family, are expected to grow up a certain way. It is typical to raise a boy with teaching him how to play masculine sports, such as; football, soccer, baseball, etc. And most girls are brought up learning to appreciate dance, gymnastics, and music. If a girl enjoyed sports or even rolling around in the dirt, they were automatically considered a “tomboy.” These are stereotypes that trace back to our adolescence days. This statistic is because women are simply too afraid to come forward. Many victims refrain from even telling their parents about their experiences. All of this built up tension causes the victims to go through depression, it creates anxiety, and fear. The most unfortunate part about it, is that some girls get blamed for sexual assault that they get to the point where they cannot take it anymore, therefore; they result in taking their own lives. If we all worked together nationally, we can bring awareness to the world which will educate people about the wrong doing that our society is allowing. If we are able to make this huge, I do believe that we can get big names to support us. For instance, the girls who became activists were able to bring this issue to the president. If we cannot be protected by the police or the schools that we pay thousands of dollars for, than we can find a way to protect ourselves. If we can get schools to arrest and expel the suspects on the first-offense, then people would be more afraid to commit gender violence. A warning will not scare those who are capable of this crime. Taking action immediately will scare those and it will show that there will be no exceptions with putting up with gender violence. People should not pay thousands of dollars to schools that will not in any way protect those who have been sexually
