How “healthy” is American healthcare? Healthcare is one of the most important topics in the United States, because its spending on healthcare per capita is the highest in the world, but outcomes are not necessarily as good. Americans have been complaining about cost of care, and believe that given current regulations which grant companies long period of exclusivity only help increasing drug and equipment prices. Healthcare stays as one of the most important debate topics in the United States and each presidential candidate always addresses this issue. Obama and his administration implemented a new system, which was supposed to make healthcare more affordable and increase coverage, but there are critics who believe that it didn’t serve its purpose and needs to be repealed (Park 14). Obviously, opponents of Affordable Care Act or Obamacare are Republicans who have their ideas about how healthcare should function.
