The Curiosity Curse There has to be some reason for all the evils that are in the world, there has to be someone to blame, in multiple religions it’s the woman's fault. In the bible, it’s Eve’s fault for all the pain and suffering that humans endure, as she was the one who ate the forbidden fruit and gave it to Adam who also ate some. It’s the same type of story in mythology, Pandora opens a box that wasn’t supposed to be opened, and all the evils are released to humanity. In both stories, it’s the women who are blamed, yet there are other factors in each that cause them to do what they did. So should they really take all the blame? Curiosity can be very powerful and get one into trouble if they let it, which is exactly what happened to Pandora. Pandora didn’t have full control over her curiosity as it was gifted to her by Zeus and was very powerful. She couldn’t resist the urge to see what was in the box, and without knowing the harm that would come with its opening, she didn’t see any problem with it. People blame Zeus for the opening of the box since he was the one who gifted Pandora curiosity, but no matter how strong her curiosity was, Pandora could’ve chosen to ignore it, as she had free will. However, Pandora chose to let her curiosity get the best of her and opened the box. Not only did Pandora give in to her curiosity, but she also ignored the warning of the others when they told her not to open the box. If it truly wasn’t Pandora’s fault for it, then she would have listened to the warnings of the others, she wouldn’t have let her curiosity take control and she wouldn’t have even opened the
