The Gospel of John was written so that everyone would come to believe in Jesus as Messiah and Son of God and have life. John is a story of the life of Jesus of Nazareth who was a prophet, and a Savior to many people. You may wonder why read this long seemingly boring story. But, you will learn many things about Jesus and his mission. The Gospel of John is essential reading because it proclaims Jesus to be the Son of God, uses major themes, and it tells us how to be a disciple of Christ. Starting with the love God has for us, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16) This quote reveals God’s desire to save us from sin and give us the opportunity to be with him in Heaven.
