Being “The Great” is known for doing big, dramatic, and heroic accomplishments. It's believed this person should be helping the community or others, doing big things for the people. Gatsby may be seen as successful due some of his history and how much money he had said. It’s understandable how people think he is so great, he knows a lot of rich people, gets what he wants but it seems he has no actual dream or goal that has to do with anyone that doesn't do anything with himself. Jay Gatsby is not “The Great”. He only tries to succeed in getting his only love. Gatsby does everything for Daisy, and he only seems to care about himself or his own goals. Jay also seems to be a very sketchy and secretive person.

Gatsby tries so hard to make bump into Daisy after 5 years separating from her. It seems he is very obsessive about Daisy. In page 92, “If it wasn't for the mist we could see your home across the bay”, quoted Gatsby. How does he know where Daisy lived after all …show more content…

Countless rumors about him, and he diversely says different things where been from. Many people can see him lying in some moments. In page 65, “He looked at me sideways-and I knew why Jordan Baker had believed he was lying. He hurried the phrase “educated at Oxford”, or swallowed it, or choked on it, as though it had bothered him before.” He also almost slips up by saying he took 3 years to get his home, then Daisy said didn't he get his money from inheritance. He panicked saying he lost some of what he had in the panic of war. In conclusion, this makes him a suspicious person multiple people noticed about him. He seems attentive about answering about himself. Being suspicious and always lying he couldn't possibly be the type of person to be “The Great”. Nevertheless, there are bunch of examples him being dishonest, he seems to always change his answers just to not uncover his true motive, he was only working or saying he an Oxford man just to seem he was
