The great Gatsby is based in the 1922 New York, right after the world war. Particularly in Long Island, the place where the newly-rich perched their Grand dwellings and lived to enjoy their wealth.
The book begins it’s twisted swirl of awe-inspiring lanes with a young man. Nick Carraway is a young hopeful from the war who moves from Minnesota to New York West egg district. He does so in hopes to study and learn thoroughly about the bond business. His Neighbor-Jay Gatsby, is a wealthy man who throws Grand parties at his behemoth house, his identity is unknown to many and all his guests have different theories about him and his past. His cousin Daisy and her Husband Tom Buchanan live in the East Egg District, and they too live a lavish life, …show more content…

He gets more than he bargains for when he moves to West Egg district because he becomes the central person in a fast-moving frenzy of rich people who are anything but content with their lives. Daisy, his cousin for example, showers him with her malcontents and sorrows, she sees him as a comforter, which at times made him feel most uncomfortable. Daisy is beautiful and dissatisfied. Jay Gatsby is a most curious character, the author builds up the suspense as to who he might be before revealing his true identity, which is James Gatz, who was born in Dakota. Besides having all the material things every man wants, he suffers under the heavy hand of love, for he dreams of a reunion with Daisy, who has his heart with. Jay is a character of a frail manner, awkward and confident at the same time. He carries himself with an air of convinced patience and creamy grandeur.
The Great Gatsby is laced with language that carries the reader from falling away from its standards. Clever figurative language with gripping metaphors and ridiculously vivid similes. The language used grabs the reader and hoists him closer to the picture the author has created. This style of writing is almost poetic and musical, ridden with an intelligent use of words, and words which might at times require an intelligent
