Response to Literature Essay Auswitz had 11 million death throughout the 12 years the holocaust was happening. There was only 300 survivors out of 11 million. This shows how many people went through the worst time in history and how many people lost their lives earlier then they should have. The description of Night by Elie Weisel was set in a concentration camp Aushwitz and his experiences throughout each parts of the camps .His feelings and to inform us other generations about what happened to not only him but all of the other jews and their families. Elie Weisel changed significantly in the holocaust. He changed physically, mentally and spiritually. One of the ways Elie has changed was physically. Elie had gotten really skinny throughout his experience. He never had enough food only to get him to the point here he didn’t die. Some did die long and slow from starvation though. He didn’t believe how this could happen to innocent people who never did anything. The jews had thought they were getting punished for something they have done. He never really understood what was happening and even how it happened. He lost everything had He had lost his mom and his sister. He didn’t understand how god could take all this away from him. He even had to eventually had to go through the death of his father while he was the only thing Elie had left. He had to see other people die. He witnessed hangings and head getting shot off of people who Elie grew up with. He had to see everyone he knew die. Not only did he see people dying he himself was close to death. He was always sick due to unhealthy conditions and not eat enough. When they didn’t do something right or do what they said the SS beat them until they could barely move. And not enough health care.
