The context in which the both books are set, presents mostly hostile environments and life as presented by the authors is not easy for the characters thereby Ernest J Gaines and Sandra Cisneros try to demonstrate the appropriated live to manage in order to overcome it, in each of the two books, the authors show these situation in a particular way and according also to a specific context, but the principal concern is to show the responsibility that is generated by the circumstances which allow to analyze it in a parallel direction. Most of the protagonists in "bloodline” are placed by Gaines in serious situations and dilemma that required to undertake decisions in order to solve a problem or to overcome it. In “Bloodline”, the stories relates the events that follow slavery, black men are no longer slave but they are treated in such way they lose their maturity, and this situation makes some of the characters like Cupper, Frank Laurent nephew to struggle this situation and takes the responsibility to fight this idea that is the superiority of the white towards black
