Recommended: Revenge And Retribution
The thought of revenge, through the eye for an eye policy, would require organized fighting forces. David walker seems to write in a rhetoric designed to enact change that will inevitably lead to conflict.
In the novel, Fools Crow, written by James Welch, the act of revenge is shown numerous times and is an underlying theme throughout. These acts of revenge reflect the Blackfeet way of life. Yellow Kidney, Owl Child, and the rest of the tribe all show signs of revenge and each express it in their own way. This is especially prevalent with Yellow Kidney and Owl Child as they seem to be constantly seeking revenge of some sort. Yellow Kidney wanted revenge on Fast Horse throughout the novel.
An eye for an eye may seem like a good idea, but the opposite is true. Revenge seemed like a good idea to Matt, but it made him feel empty and still devastated over the murder of his son. The story, “Killings”, by Andre Dubus made me rethink my opinion on parent-child relationships and revenge. The story reinforced my idea that revenge never makes people feel better, but I can still understand Matt’s internal struggle following his son’s murder.
The color of the hat represents the evil and darkness that has befallen onto the man. The short-sightedness is a result of his selfishness, acting only upon his self-consciousness to relieve his pains, not letting anyone comfort or touch him. The hat proves O'Connor's point even more, the man is basing every decision on his own morals and desires, which can only lead to the evil and darkness that he has attained. Revenge Hop Frog is definitely not overreacting in the justification of his actions. First, Hop Frog and Trippetta “had been forcibly carried off from their respective homes in adjoining provinces” (Poe 3). Hop Frog and Trippetta, being taken at a very young age, creates a feeling of sorrow for them. The reader can feel the king deserves his death. Second, Hop Frog wants to avenge Trippetta.

This is exactly the reason the narrator has killed the old man, because of his “evil eye”. Not only is this ridiculous on its own, but the narrator directly states that he loved this man. “I loved the old man. He had never wronged
The man says, “You fancy me mad. Madmen know nothing.” Tying in with the arrogant tones as well, the man has a very dark mind and the readers get a glimpse of his thought train through first person. He explains he needs to “take the life of the old man and thus rid myself of the eye forever.” No sane person would kill over a color of an eye, but as he describes the old man’s eye, the audience begins to understand why he takes the life of the old man.

The narrator shares an event from the past which he tells us about his hatred for this old man’s eye which resembled that of a “vulture, a pale blue eye, with a film over it”(Poe 303). The narrator uses these illustrative images of this pernicious eye to assist in building the plot. He is trying to convince readers that all of this is because of the “Evil eye”(Poe 303).
That is why the enemy ‘satan’ is on attack trying to take control of these mighty weapons of God- ‘Eyes’ Our eyes are to see the needs and sufferings of our brothers and sisters in Christ. To see their pain, to know how to help them in The Name of Jesus! To walk in the footsteps of Our Savior, So we can lead our brothers and sisters to the Lord Jesus Christ.
Revenge can be a horrible emotion; it can sometimes lead people to do horrible things. By definition, Revenge means to get retribution for a wrongdoing done to you. In my opinion, revenge is mostly caused by fear and the overwhelming feeling of payback Throughout history, revenge, or vengeance, has been altered by several cultures and religions, and even the American culture. Though it often leads one to perform criminal acts, Howard argues that it is a necessary component in the functioning of society. He points out that revenge is a threat that acts as a disincentive to undeserved violence.
While this may be the case, many people may think he was fully aware of what he was doing. This can be proven wrong because the narrator states, “I loved the old man. He had never wronged me... I think it was his eye yes, it was this!”(2).This quote reveals that it was not the old man at all that had made him want to murder him, it was his eye that was his motivation.
Revenge is a real thing in today’s society. It happens every day. There are different reasons for revenge from as small, as a small child stealing a stick of gum to a drug dealer murdering a nark. Regardless, taking revenge in itself may be for the greater good, or evil.
An Eye for an Eye ¨An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.¨ The speaker of this quote, Mahatma Gandhi, was trying to express how evil revenge can be. When someone feels as if they have been wronged, they will stop at nothing to get their way and prove they’re not someone to mess with. The situation can only get worse because everyone has been blinded by their hatred. Actions can irritate someone even if they weren’t intended to.
No sane person would think of doing such a thing, they would just avoid seeing the old man. Instead, the narrator chooses to kill the old man which does not make sense to the average, but to him, this is the only way to relieve himself of the eye.
