In August, 2016 former police chief Mark Beckner held an AMA,ask me anything, on Reddit. Beckner was asked questions about the Ramsey case and was unaware that his answers were available to the world. The ask me anything session on Reddit sparked the reopening of the case. JonBenet was the daughter of Jhon and Patsy Ramsey. Patsy Ramsey also had her spot as a beauty queen.
A Boulder grand jury indictment in 1999 accused John and Patsy Ramsey of two counts each of child abuse resulting in death in connection to the first-degree murder of their 6-year-old daughter JonBenét, according to documents released Friday morning. The charges didn’t directly accuse the Ramseys of killing their daughter. Instead they alleged that the parents permitted JonBenét to be placed in a dangerous situation that led to her death and it accused them of helping whoever killed the girl.
Also, the handwriting was found to definitely not be his. As for the raping the object that was used was said to be very small; like the size of the end of a paintbrush (which was never found). Therefore I don’t think John murdered Jonbenet. Evaluation - Burke Ramsey: I don’t think Burke committed the crime either. Even though his behavior was odd.
In an interview conducted by Jim Clemente and Laura Richards, Judith Phillips, a friend of the Ramsey family at the time, says that “Burke had a bad temper, like he had a chip on his shoulder. He had hit Jonbenét” (Phillips – family friend). Burke Ramsey had hit Jonbenét Ramsey with the gold club roughly a year and a half before the murder, according to Phillips. This proves that Burke Ramsey was more likely to hit Jonbenét again, due to past behavior. When the Ramsey came home after a Christmas dinner, Pasty Ramsey had made a bowl of pineapple and milk, alongside a cup of tea, for Burke as a snack.
John Ramsey never liked the fact that she got entered into beauty pageants. JonBenet’s body, found with signs that show sexual assault, shows the possibility that her father took her into the basement, sexually assaulted her, and then killed her. Then he’d have left the ransom note to draw attention away from. Most of the evidence points directly to him for only the family had known they had a basement where JonBenet died. John Ramsey told the cops that he didn’t hear anything that night.
It is understood that the grand jury found no suspect to blame for her murder, and even with countless DNA samples, not even one matched. Frustrations were raised in the public, for example, a former homicide detective ultimately dropped out of the case simply because he was a firm believer in the intruder theory. This article also highlights the focus on Ramsey’s parents, but shies away due to the multiple witnesses that have evidence of the Ramsey’s innocence. The article at hand is important when understanding and learning about the JonBenét Ramsey case due to the number of theories and information provided in this article. It describes the tragic fate JonBenét endured, provides information on the grand jury decision, multiple theories on how she died, and the parent’s involvement or lack thereof.
New DNA could lead to more clues in the investigation, Biography stated this, “In July 2008, new "touch DNA" technology seemed to exonerate all members of JonBenét’s family in the 1996 killing,” ("JonBenét Ramsey"). With the new technology, we have today DNA can be taken and tested in a couple days of a crime, it is also very reliable. Not to mention all the pressure put on the parents of the family, finding DNA other than their families was a relief. The DNA found led police away from the family, CNN Library stated,“Early suspicion fell on her parents, but they were exonerated after DNA at the scene was found to belong to a male unrelated to the Ramsey family,” ("JonBenet Ramsey"). Since the DNA did not match to any of the family members, they now have to find who actually committed the crime.
Burke Ramsey was a nine-year-old at the time of this murder happening. There were many theories that Burke possibly was jealous of how his family would treat JonBenét so much better than him and them giving her more attention, so maybe he wanted to kill his sister, and his parents helped him hide it. " According to an old family friend of the Ramseys, Burke was easily angry and had struck JonBenet with a golf club after getting mad, leaving her with a scar on her face (CBS Real Crime). This behavior shows that Burke was capable of being fatally violent with JonBenet. Burke’s response to questions in his investigative interview are very odd, and they do not show any feelings of a typical child.
The only people that knew about that room were the Ramsey family. Along with this, John Ramsey, the father, was the one to find the body, right after the police searched the house for hours. The police never knew this room existed until after John found the body. Burke was also said to have a big history of anger issues. More examination led to finding stun gun marks and Burke’s DNA on JonBenet’s body.
He was in the house at the time of the murder, he was jealous of JonBenét because she was the pageant winner and like the trophy child in the family. She always got what she wanted and she always got more attention from her parents then Burke did. First of all there is an easy motive for Burke with his sister, he was always jealous and he was always quiet and to himself unlike JonBenét she
The next pieces of the theory account to JonBenet’s 9 year old brother, Burke. Both Patsy and John claim that Burke was asleep in his room for the entire time. Yet he is clearly heard in the background of the 911 call saying “what did you find” (Was child beauty queen JonBenet murdered by brother?) Based on all of these facts, her family being involved in her murder remains a
With these suspects interrogated and their stories checked the Ramsey couple are still at the top of this list. Out of the eight suspects, only one confessed to this horrendous crime has been made by John Karr; John admitted to killing JonBenet in August of 2006 but after authorities carefully reviewed where he was the day of and surrounding the murder they realized it was unlikely he had done it because he was in Alabama at the time (Worthen). With the Ramseys being the lead suspects in 1998 Boulder county convened a grand jury to see if an indictment could be supported by the evidence at the time(Puffer-Rothenberg). It took this jury a year to come to a conclusion, within this time frame another jury voted to indict the Ramseys for their “alleged” involvement in their daughter's murder, however, D.A Alex Hunter decided not to file charges even though this jury's verdict was guilty(Worthen). After this the 1998 jury concluded that no charges could be filed based off of the evidence at hand (Puffer-Rothenberg).
So why was it that Burke decided to exclude his little sister? Probably because he was still jealous that even after his sister’s death, she still had the spotlight. There was also a movie documented on the JonBenet Ramsey killing as it was supposed to be portrayed as true. It was shown that the actress acting as Patsy going ballistic when the investigators asked a question about Burke.
On the morning of December 26, 1996 John Ramsey discovered the lifeless body of six-year old JonBenet Ramsey in the basement of the family’s home. This was the beginning of an American crime story that remains unsolved to this day, despite the Boulder Police Department processing over fifteen hundred pieces of evidence and interviewing more than one thousand people (Agrawal, 2016). The Ramsey family blamed the Boulder Police Department for their inexperience kidnapping and murder investigations and scrutinized the police for not seeking additional assistance from other law enforcement agencies (Ramsey, 2000). The Boulder Police Department immediately became suspicious that a member of the Ramsey’s family or someone close to them committed
JonBenet Ramsey who was a young loving beauty queen of Colorado, who’s live was taken way too early. JonBenet was murdered in her home in Boulder Colorado on December 26, 1996 at the age of six. After completing my research, I was able to make a prediction of who I believed murdered the incent child, and it did not take much research to see the mistakes made by the Boulder Police Department. The Boulder Police Department made numerous mistakes in the JonBenet Ramsey case.
