Later that day Percy and his mom leaves for the beach, an annual trip that he and his mom always goes on. Throughout the beach trip a massive storm comes and Percy's friend Grover shows up, but not in human form, he shows up in his true mythological form which is a satyr, and tells Sally, Percy’s mom, that it is time to take Percy away now. So Percy, Sally, and Grover are driving to take Percy to the special place and Grover proceeds to tell Percy that everything he practically knows is a lie, that greek mythology actual does exist, that he’s a demigod, and that he is not safe where he currently is and has to go to Camp Half-Blood.

The Grand Canyon is a remarkably interesting and beautiful place, as Walker Percy refers to in his essay “The Loss of Creature”. How can sightseers hold the same “value P” if they possess “the symbolic complex which has already been formed in the sightseer’s mind” (Percy1)? In his essay, Percy discusses his theory that humans aren’t getting the full value of life because they live off of preconceptions and expectations. Percy provides the reader with a number of examples to help illustrate his point in which he believes to be “The Loss of Creature”. The descriptions of the couple on vacation in Mexico and the difference between the Falkland Islander and the student at Scarsdale High School are two of his more interesting examples.

“The Lightning Thief” is a current Greek mythology by Rick Riordan. Percy Jackson has the characteristics of a Greek hero because he is, after all, a demigod. He goes on an unknown journey after his mother who is captured, retrieve the master bolt and return the helmet back to Hades. As he goes on a journey to complete a heroic quest while on his way he faced a couple challenges along his way to save the world from a horrendous war. Thus, this shows that Percy Jackson is an archetypal hero because he possesses courage and selflessness.
Percy Jackson and the lightning thief is about the offspring of poseidon and a mortal, going on a quest with his friends to find Zeus’ missing lightning bolt. The bolt went missing and Percy Jackson is accused of taking it. This is an excellent book that was made into a film. Though the film was good it was very different from the book.
The cyclops is a giant, one eyed, insatiable cannibal who eats people's flesh and bones. But cyclopsis are not always portrayed that way like in the story “The Sea Of Monsters”. The cyclops is described as someone looking for a bride and takes who he thought was a lady cyclops as said bride. Though the cyclops in this story does still have the intention of eating a human they wait to indulge themself showing self control. But in the story “The Cyclops”, the cyclops is portrayed as a cannibal who eats people whenever he feels the urge.
This was an honor for Percy which brought a great honor into Percy’s life. But, it also brought more danger into into Percy’s life like being attacked by many monsters including people like the kindly

Throughout “The Lightning Thief” by Rick Riordan, the main character Percy Jackson grows in many ways. Through application of Joseph Campbell’s Hero Cycle, Percy’s development as a leader over the course of “The Lightning Thief” can be analyzed (Campbell). Percy is born into the hero’s cycle at his natural birth and his call to adventure is the attack by Mrs. Dodds. Percy crosses the threshold, when he leaves Montauk with his mother and Grover and the first trial testing his leadership is on the bus with the furies. Trials exemplifying Percy’s growth include: the furies, Medusa, the Saint Louis Arch, the “Waterland” Waterpark, the Lotus Hotel, Crusty’s Waterbed Palace, and Hades and the Underworld.

The only poetry that I have ever read was if it pertained to school work. I have never just read poetry for enjoyment. There are times where I find it difficult to pick up what the poet is trying to explain or talk about in the poem and I have to read it several times to understand the meaning. Among all the poems that I have read through the chapters, one of my favorites was “Do not go gentle into that good night” by Dylan Thomas.
Prince Caspian, written by the divine author C. S. Lewis, portrays a daring adventure and a battle for freedom while characters obtain braveness, courage, leadership, and patience through spiritual instruction. The spectacular setting of this widely known book takes place in the land of Narnia, and the period of time when there were kings, kingdoms and castles, and when battles were fought with swords, catapults and pure skill. Prince Caspian, a remarkable book from C. S. Lewis’s series, The Chronicles of Narnia, affected me in many ways, and caused me to stop and deem through the range of spiritual character traits portrayed, and how I may apply them to my own life. In C. S. Lewis’ Prince Caspian, there includes a protagonist, antagonists,
