Percy Jackson had a tough life. Poseidon (His dad) left him when he was young, and he was alone with his mom. He was offered a quest from the leader of Camp Half Blood named Chiron. There was a prophecy that said he would go west to face the god who has turned, he would find what was stolen, and see it safely returned, he would be betrayed by the one who calls him a friend, and finally he would fail to save what matters to him the most in the end. Percy Jackson achieved all of these parts of the prophecy but they were not always good for him. In the book ir says that Percy “Shall go west, and face the god who has turned.” In the book Ares was the god who was always helping Percy, Grover, and Annabeth. He had to retrieve it and bring it all the way back to Zeus. It was said multiple times in the book that Percy was framed for actually stealing the master bolt since he had it for a short amount of time, but he was just trying to help and give it back to Zeus. Percy mentions that he had been having vivid dreams, and that Ares hinted he had been having dreams too, he said that he thinks they were being used just to start a war, page 342-343. So it might not of been Ares fault but he did eventually bring the master bolt back to Zeus. In the third part of the Prophecy it states that “You shall be betrayed by one who calls you a friend.” After a long talk with Luke, Percy then realizes that Luke has betrayed him and is bad. Percy and Luke have a huge argument and it breaks out into a fight. Percy even says “You’re being used, Luke. You and Ares both. Don’t listen to Kronos.”Page 368. Luke and Percy keep fighting and in the end Luke is defeated. Chiron and Percy have a talk of what they should do about Luke. They’re not going to do anything right now but they eventually
