On February 14 2018, Stoneman Douglas High School faced a horrible tragedy. The had faced a miserable school shooting. The shooting caused seventeen casualties and left many injured. This month the seniors there graduate and Jimmy Fallon came to give them a speech for their memorable day. In Jimmy Fallon's speech to the class of 2018 at Stoneman Douglas High School, he convinced students to move on from the tragedy by using humor and ethos. As we all know, Jimmy Fallon is a comedian and the host for the Late Night Show, therefore he used humor to convey his message to the graduates. He starts off by making fun of their hearing by bringing up the laurel vs yanny joke, then he shares his funny person story which leaves a significant message. He talks about how he meet this girl one day who was a really big fan on him and while meeting she asked Fallon if she could take a selfie with him. After taking the selfies the girl says “Oh my God, I just met Jimmy Kimmel.” This really surprised and upset Fallon. By sharing this stroy, he conveyed that teengers should find a career that they enjoy doing because otherwise things will get difficult. Fallons says “don't think about what you want to do. Additionally, this convinces and assures them that situations will get better. He provides credibility by showing that he has gone to diffuclt sutauions as a teenger as well.
