John F Kennedy was the first President to speak to the Berlin Community. Later on, Ronald Reagan became the second President to Speak to the Berlin Community about Their lifestyles,Economy, and freedom. The speeches took place at the Brandenburg Gate. This was such a big deal because you don't hear to often of Presidents going to speak to other countries citizens in Public. This was Reagan's third and Final Speech he made internationally when he was president. During this time Berlin had a bad economy and people were mad about it. When the People of Berlin heard that Ronald Reagan was coming to give a speech, many people had hope that he would help spark a change of the economy. In Ronald Reagan's Proposal at the Brandenburg Gate, he made the speech to challenge the Soviet Leader to Tear down the wall due to the people of Berlin having been through alot with the communist economy and not being able to see their family on the other side of Berlin. …show more content…

I Believe that Ronald Reagan was addressing this speech to the Soviet Union Leader Mikhail Gorbachev to Improve the economy and make the Citizens be able to see their family. I think he was challenging the audience to believe that the Tearing down of the wall was going to happen. A Journalist once said that “Visiting East Berlin gives the impression of visiting a prison camp, The people do not seem to feel free. (libertarianism.org). The Journalist is basically saying that the government controls everything and that the people don't have any say in anything that goes on in there country. Some people won't agree with this and say that communism is good and will help the economy because the government is in control of everything and will be able to keep the economy the way they want
