Jason Reynolds had that impact on his audience during his speech at Lesley University in 2018. In his breathtaking and notably crafted speech given to the graduating class of Lesley University, Jason Reynolds clearly articulates and emotionally persuades the audience through the use of symbolism and anecdotes. Jason Reynolds establishes himself as a powerful and memorable speaker by using symbolism to appeal to the audiences’ emotions. Furthermore, he also explains that he, too, dealt with the “fugitive-slave laws, Dred Scott decision, indictment for treason, and long and dreary indictments.” By explaining that he understands the difficulties they faced, the audience knows that he understands their pain. His mentioning of their hardships allows him to declare that their “duty...is not to cavil over past grievances.” In other words, he wants his fellow African Americans to look past their difficulties and to fight with those who failed to even recognize them as citizens. President George W. Bush gave a speech titled “9/11 Address to the Nation,” where he reassures the nation of our country’s strength and even calls it the “brightest beacon for freedom.” This event was a suicide bombing of the World Trade Center where approximately 3,000 people were killed and nearly 6,000 more were injured. Although it was one of the worst attacks in American history, it unified the nation in more ways than one. This speech was made even more important after a tragedy like 9/11 because the nation had been frightened by these acts of terror and was in need of the inspiration of our most powerful leader: the commander-in-chief. Bush’s relationship with the American citizens is comforting and soothing. Bush’s 9/11 Address was meant to influence everybody including the terrorist. They assume that America is going to stick together and get through this and they’re holding president Bush accountable because he promised this. After the message, the American people assume that the terrorist will be taken down.
The speaker’s voice was extremely effective because she was outspoken and passionate about the subject she was speaking about. She maintained very good eye contact with the audience throughout the speech and asked questions to get people involved. When she would make a joke or get excited about something she would vary her vocal range and get louder, she told us that the reason she is so loud is because she was from New Jersey. Friedman did not move too far away from the podium, she leaned on the side of it for the majority of her presentation. It was clear to see that Friedman was passionate about sexual assault and violence.

People work for the government, local rescues, Congress, education, local rescues, and people even work our safety and protection for our nation. On September 11, 2001, George W. Bush made an astonishing speech about the evil that happened that day. Terrorists attacked the nation, and they killed thousands of people.
Presenting to the 1895 Cotton States and International Exposition, Booker T. Washington delivered his most famous speech, "The Atlanta Compromise Address". In this speech Washington shares his belief that his fellow African Americans and other former slaves should make the best of what they have and to strive to excel in the positions and jobs they already occupy rather than continually fighting for. He insists that the people of the white race also do not see what they have around them. He wants the whites and blacks in south to realize that they need each other and should act in ways to coexist. To convey his belief, Washington uses rhetorical strategies such as the following: the three rhetorical appeals, allegory, and repetition.
In his incisive and critical speech The American Crisis, presented to the Continental Army in 1776, Thomas Paine discusses the importance of standing up for one’s values and fighting for societal change for the generations to come. The famous oration alludes to the story of Joanna of Arc and places emphasis on serving God. It recalls Paine’s personal experiences in combat and opinions to unify the various perspectives in his audience. His words successfully moved his audience and the soldiers went on to win the ensuing battle. Thomas Paine makes references to the Christian martyr Joanna of Arc, whose narrative is of both ministerial and religious importance to his audience.
Rhetorical devices is used significantly through both text, Pearl Harbor Address to the Nation, and A Fable for Tomorrow. Both text use ethos, pathos, and logos, but in different forms, and techniques. Which affects the effectiveness of the tone, and feeling of each text. Pearl Harbor Address to the Nation, uses more ethos, facts and credibility. A Fable for Tomorrow, uses more pathos, appeals to emotion.
Washington takes his position as President of the United States and uses it to his advantage to spread his words and thoughts to all of the American public. He uses his Farewell Address to build his ethos and establish his credibility. Throughout his speech, Washington uses personal pronouns to connect him with the American public. When speaking of his hopes for his retirement, Washington conveys his desire to partake in America’s upbringing “in the midst of my fellow-citizens” and enjoy “our mutual cares, labors, and dangers” (16). Washington’s use of personal pronouns connects him to the American public because it establishes his role as an American citizen along with the rest of the country.
“Nobody cares how tough your upbringing was. Nobody cares if you suffered some discrimination. And moreover, you have to remember that whatever you 've gone through, it pales in comparison to the hardships previous generations endured - and they overcame them.” (Obama 6) In the speech Obama had presented at the graduation class of 2013 at Morehouse College, he wants them to remember their struggles and be able to overcome them to do what is right.

Background: Over 50 years ago, on March 7, 1965, now known as bloody Sunday, segregation was still prevalent. At the time it was not allowed for blacks to vote at the time.
Speeches have been a main staple of political rhetoric that goes has been America’s history. There have been memorable speeches from passionate citizens such as Martin Luther King Jr. and Sojourner Truth, and many speeches from our past presidents that have influenced America today. One such speech was given by President Bill Clinton when he addressed the American public on September 11 in 1998 to answer for a moral scandal that took place in the nation’s capital that involved himself and Monica Lewinsky, an intern working at the White House. When called to speak about the internal affair at the White house Clinton gave a memorable speech in which he used clever and strategic language to illicit certain feelings and actions from his unhappy crowd. His mastery of language and his understanding of the people he was speaking to comes through in one intentional speech.
Dr. Frankenstein and the Creature are similar in more ways than one might initially realize. They both long for families, but become increasingly distant from those around them as time goes on. Frankenstein was abandoned by his mother, while the Creature was abandoned by Frankenstein. They are both impulsive, eager to learn, and have an incredibly difficult time coping with their extreme emotions.
