Authors Notes Rhetoric is always a good essay to write because it involves so much art around it. In this essay, I will be discussing two articles based on golf. It will be discussing whether or not golf is a sport or isn’t a sport. One article talks about how golf is a sport and why. The other article talks about how it is not a sport, but a hobby. Rhetorical Analysis Golf is something I have always been intrigued by. I played golf when I was younger, but I have recently been more involved in the game of golf. 11 Reasons Why It’s More Than A Game” by Project Golf Australia. We will be learning whether or not golf is a sport. The first article gave us all very good examples and explanations on why golf is not a sport but a hobby. There were a lot of good quotes in this source, but there was one quote that stood out to me. This quote talks a lot about logos. This quote is, “Some argue that the fact that golf requires skill and practice means that it is a sport. While it is undoubtedly true that golf requires a great deal of skill and ability and takes much time to become good enough to compete at the highest level, so do very many things which people would never claim were sports.” This is a good example of logos because it gives a lot of explanation of why golf is not a sport. It also gives us the little details on why everything skillful is not a sport even if you practice to get better at it. Another quote I found connects to pathos.
