"Thank you all so very much. Thanks for being here, in the great Chicago, Illinois. Thanks to all of you Illinoians who I am so proud to represent in the United States Senate. It was Chicago, Illinois that gave my parents a rebound when we'd been knocked down; it was this city where I not only heard about what it meant to fight for racial justice and equality, but to actually put on those gloves and be a part of the anti-apartheid movement; it was here in this great city where I found my calling to speak for the voiceless and stand up for the defenseless; and this city where I found my love and had my first bundle of joy! As a matter of fact they face many of the same challenges that many middle class working families face. Economic inequality is one of the key components of why we are not gaining more ground economically than we can. Women are only receiving seventy eight cents on every dollar men receive for the same work. At the same time, money is continually being concentrated to the richest and wealthiest Americans, stymieing progress for millions of working families. What we must do -- and what I'll do as President -- is close the wage disparity between men and women! I will ensure we are doing all we can to promote women in the workforce and provide equal opportunity in this big-tent economy. We must address the income inequality and the divide between the rich and the poor by stripping tax advantages from big-company CEOs who have turned a blind eye to the cost of living expenses.
