Outside of her active participation as a Kappa alumna, Betty was a teacher, served as a church organist, chaired a large antique show, owned a floral design business and led the Washington National Cathedral’s Altar Guild. As a new member of Delta Rho in 1957, Betty and the members of her new member class were always reminded of the lifelong friendships and associations they would make as collegians as well as alumnae. In the years since, Betty has found this to be very true and she is forever grateful for the lasting ideals afforded her because of her Kappa
The world, as well as ourselves, can become confident. I will encourage scholarship, leadership, and good citizenship with my school and community. With my hardwork, not only shall I benefit, but all that I help shall be benefited as well.
Of all the experiences I have had at Christopher Newport University, I believe that deciding to rush the Beta Gamma Chapter of Kappa Delta Rho was and WILL be one of the best decisions I have made. Given the premise of this decision, I would like to emphasize some of the things that have enlightened me within the pledge process. Through the process of completing the paddle signatures required, I have met many gentlemen… who I am honored to soon be able to call my brothers. The tasks, interactions, and time spent with these brothers have been a very valuable aspect of more deeply engraining my connection to the Fraternity as well as its members. Additionally, I would like to highlight that the diversity of these paddle signatures has shown me
Given the initial assessment of Beta Gamma Nu and the goals that I have for the organization, these will be the ways which we will accomplish those goals: When it comes to continue to build deep relationships with other chapters in Multicultural Greek Council (MGC), we will be attempting to reach every organization through socials and workshops around our philanthropy of “B Fit”. Our organization will be hosting a social with Alpha Phi Gamma Multicultural Sorority by playing volleyball with each prospective interest of our organization. This corresponds to being physically and mentally fit and is beneficial to potential members of MGC to learn about other organizations under council. We will also be participating in a Salsa Night with Kappa Delta Chi Multicultural Sorority as a way to practice for our upcoming Fall Ball Suicide Awareness. It is also useful in gaining an appreciation for the culture of salsa and to connect with the
I believe I possess lots of qualities that would make me a good Rho Gamma. I am a very positive and supportive person. I have been in tons of leadership positions, and currently hold several. I know how to command the attention of large groups and keep them organized and on task. I take every position I am put in very seriously.
Here I serve on a leadership team charged with not just the duties of being a role model for our Youth Group but also with assisting teachers, leading small groups, and making any new attendees feel welcome. The next of my many
Initiating and advocating change for students and the community without the expectation of being recognized is what has made me an HBCU All-Star. The moment I came to Nashville to attend the Illustrious Tennessee State University, I vowed to be an advocate for change and lead on and off campus. Countless hours and many sacrifices were made to ensure that my scholarship exemplified academic excellence. Extensive strategic planning and professional development was completed to ensure that my leadership was effective for my student body, local community, and the HBCU community at large. Humble and willing service to my community is what I’ve executed through my civic engagement in political and community affairs.
Through my experience of akdphi, I’ve held many leadership positions including fundraising chair, corresponding secretary, creative director and the Greek delegate of relations. Akdphi had given me the opportunity to further my leadership skills and maintain an excellent GPA. After joining akdphi, I have been swamped by an infinite network of people who welcome you with open arms. At that time, that was exactly what I needed. This experience has played an enormous role in shaping who I am today.
A leader is able to gain an audience’s attention because of their personality, morality, and how they hold themself. It is important for a leader to be organized, compassionate, able to compromise but also be firm on what they believe, and be a person who people look up to and aspire to be. I was part of an organization called National Charity League and this organization helped grow women’s confidence, public speaking skills, time management, and organizational skills. Each month, each class holds meetings to plan and discuss projects that follow the class’s focuses. This past year Class of 2023 philanthropic focus is children, cultural focus is international food, and for leadership we are focusing on self care and reflecting on the NCL experience.
Joining the sisterhood of Kappa Kappa Gamma has enhanced my life in many ways. Throughout the past year, I not only met the friends that will be with me for the rest of my life, but met the people I call family. Every member of this sisterhood has encouraged me to be a better version of myself. In particular, this past semester, living in the chapter house and being surrounded by this amazing family throughout most of my day has increased by GPA, improved my mental and physical health, and decreased the stress that comes with being in college.
I am able to take on many leadership roles and do them all with a smile! University of Dayton students seem to have a great school spirit, and I would like to add my ideas to build it even
Acquiring leadership skills along with a strong character and the sense to serve others is vital. A leader should be resourceful, dependable, selfless, and a good problem solver. I have led in many ways- inside and outside of school. Last year as a tenth grader, I was class secretary for Class Council.
Currently, I have a group in each one of my classes. Each group has some similarities and some uniqueness associated with them. In each group, one person usually separates themselves as the “leader” of the group. The leader of the group can be determined based on being the most driven, outspoken, opinioned, organized or respected. Each of these qualities that makes a leader can also hurt the group.
I am truly honored to be considered for being a part of The national honor Society. Being a part of this organization has been a goal for me since I first knew about what it was, and how it does great things for the community. I am inspired when I hear the great actions it national honor Society has done and I hope to be a part of this admirable organization. I feel I am qualified to be a part of this organization because of my dedication and hard work. Every day I follow the same routine.
From contesting for this position to getting elected and working for betterment of my house group, I gained a lot of experience and self-confidence and became more responsible. Being a vice captain, I played an important role in addressing and motivating students, advising and helping them, and earning points for my group by participating in many competitions alone or in a team. I also served as the student voice of the school to a variety of external and internal constituents. The student council served as a bridge between the students and the school heads and administration.
