While I stared into the flames of the heath, grim images passed by and the soft timid voice mentioned my name far away. Her hand touched my sleeve hesitantly, withdrawing with arrow speed when I turned to her. She smiled halfheartedly in a compassioned attempt to lighten my dark disposition.
‘I thought I had lost him. ‘Jocelyne pressed her lips. Although she must have shared my sentiments, she had disapproved of my lashings. Wisely, she had held her tongue for my continued slumbering anxiety disguised as anger would have been prolonged. Her reply: ‘He has met no harm’, however, reminded me of wht could have happen.
