Richard Ramirez was a notorious killer also known as “The Night Stalker.” But what leads these killers to become who they are? I chose Richard because his background and life is very interesting and finding why he became who he was is crucial. I will look at his childhood, turning points, motives, and analyze why he is who he is and why he is a created psychopath opposed to a born one.
First, looking at Ramirez’s childhood it started off with a rough start, having two brain injuries. For example, at two years old he had a dresser fall on him causing damage and needing thirty stitches. He started to steal once he decided to drop out of high school. These petty crimes just fuelled his ambition to commit crime, causing him to progress into breaking into homes, stealing cars, and ultimately murder. I think the act of killing made him lean into satanism and worshiping others who killed and using their methods. This is another reason why he is a created psychopath because he obviously was not born a satanist or wanting to murder people.
Almost all killers have a motivation of why they kill whether it's revenge or just hatred towards certain people there is usually a reason. But Richard is one of the rare ones where he never said an exact reason why he killed just because he wanted to and I think this is due to the injuries he had as a child. I think this is because he damaged the frontal lobe of his brain which caused his aggression. This may also be why he showed absolutely no remorse for his victims or what he had done. I believe his drug abuse with cocaine and heroin also played a big part of why he would steal after murdering people in their homes, in order to buy more of these addictive
