Football has gone over years of revisement of rules, team changes, and lawsuits of safety of the sport. Although, it is still the most popular sport in North America, with a recorded of amount of 205 million watching at least one game in 2014, that is almost two thirds of the U.S.A.’s population. American Football is America’s favorite sport.

American Football as you may know, started as a well known European sport called Rugby. The transformation happened from many divergences from the European sport. The most notable divergence happened by a man named Walter Camp, a Yale University and Hopkins School graduate. Walter Camp is considered as the “Father of American Football”, he helped push the changes of the Rugby rules to eventually become American Football. These changes included the down-and-distance rules, line of scrimmage, forward pass, and legalization of interference. The sport has claimed a day of the week (Sunday), having TV stations dedicated to broadcasting the games taking place all over the nation. The sport also brings people together on the days their favorite team (or teams are playing). The sport has a huge effect on the internet. Having hundreds of thousands of accounts just based on football players, teams, and highlight reels. Inspiring many kids and teens, having their own football dreams. The sport also has a big effect on the economy, the NFL makes about 9.5 billion a year. 5 billion dollars going to the cities connected to their NFL teams. NFL games also provide jobs for many people per game. These jobs include parking attendants, security guards, ushers, ticket takers, janitors, merchandise sellers and concession workers.
