Many battles have been fought throughout history. During the battle of Gettysburg there were many leaders that made mistakes, some of the mistakes could have costed them the war. In July of 1863, first through the third, there was a major battle between the North and the South. Many officers did not do their duties which did not help with them win the battle . ALthough I believe the main person who gambled the Confederates the whole battle was Robert E. Lee. One reason Lee was blamed for them losing was because he didn’t do what was best for what men he did have or to save them. A huge mistake was also stated by Fan, “General Longstreet urges a move around the Union Army flank on the right taking them from behind, however, General Lee orders famous Confederate General John Bell Hood to take his entire division in a frontal assault up a steep, rocky hill, known as …show more content…

In Killer Angels it also states, “Lee raised his hand. General Pickett, I want you to reform your Division in the rear of this hill. Pickett said, “General Lee, I have no Division (Sharra). This shows that he doesn't talk to his people to find out what is going on with his men. In the scene from the movie Gettysburg there was many different times where he just wouldn’t look at them when they are talking. Or when they would give him different ideas he would have a blank look on his face(Gettysburg). This shows that he doesn’t care what people says and that he thinks his idea is the best and no one else’s idea would work or be as good as his. Another reason that he made was stated by Fan, “Although he didn’t pick the ground to fight on (his second mistake at Gettysburg), was too bullheaded to move away and force the Union Army to follow him, and fight on his own ground (Fan). This is proof that he didn’t want to control the Union Army he could have picked the ground to fight on if he would have moved
