“Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words” (Google Images). This is a famous quote from the famous poet Robert Frost. Robert Frost was a famous poet from the 19th and 20th century. His poems are known from all over the world. Robert Frost has been known for generations, from the start of his life to the end, he will be known for many more. Robert Frost was born on March 26, 1874 in San Francisco, California (Encyclopedia Britannica). His parents had two children, Robert and Jeanie Frost. His father, William Prescott Frost, was a journalist who was hoping for a career in California. Tragically, he died of tuberculosis in 1885 leaving 11 year old Frost with his mother and sister. This had a large impact on Frost throughout his life. After his father's death, Frost’s family lives with his grandparents. This helped his mother as she taught at a variety of schools while they were being taken care of by their grandparents. Frost and his sister Jeanie graduate from high school in Lawrence. In 1893, Fost goes to Dartmouth college to study poetry. This brought him to achieve a professional publication in 1894 of one of his poems “My butterfly: An Elegy”. After a while, he quit college and married Elinor in 1885. They had 6 children, but two died in childbirth. With the four kids he had, Frost began teaching, cobbling, and tried farming. Leaving his children behind, Frost returned to his education at Harvard University. He left once again and bought a farm in Derry, New Hampshire (Encyclopedia Britannica). For 9 years, Frost lives in Derry until British poets heard about his work and wanted him to come to England. He goes to England in 1912 where he meets Ezra Pound, a British poet who helps him with his work. Years after, his wife Elinor dies in 1938
