Straight up in the middle of the night, walking towards the predator with a strong and straight up fury. Shashing! Blood spilled and splash to every corner of the deep dark room. There is no more monster,but it left him with discipline, responsibility, and guilt. The sword can succeed one task, but it can fail another one in return. Imagine that if you have a sword that can hold rights, but it can backslide something to you in return. A true epic hero will not use the sword. In Robert Nye’s Beowulf, Beowulf meets all standards of an epic hero. Beowulf proves to be an epic hero by demonstrating superhuman strength, risking death for good,and being a reasonable leader. Without any hesitation Beowulf establish himself to go into the black mysterious fen alone to fight Her(Grendel’s mom). He worries and concerns about his soldiers’ lives, and he decides to stand out to risk his death instead of the others coming with him. ““I will go against the Firedrake,” he said...The young man could not help remarking that Beowulf’s body had shrunken with age” ( Nye 94). Beowulf has the persistence and bravery to fight the Firedrake with his shrunken old body. Beowulf decides to fight the Firedrake to protect his country and to risk his own life instead of others. Beowulf’s superb determination leads him to even risk his death for good, to add on he also shows that he is a strong and reasonable
