Robber Baron's are the powerhouse of businesses in the United States. Were the big businesses and their owners captain of industry or robber baron, they were robber baron, more powerful and wealthy. The owners such as J.P. Morgan, Cornelius Vanderbilt, Rockefeller and more were robber baron. J.P. Became the first billionaire of the businesses. J.P. Morgan's US steel was the first billion dollar company in the world with an authorized capitalization of 1.2 billion dollars.
In Clive Barker’s The Thief of Always, Hood, the antagonist, creates 4 servants to help him on his path to evil. 3 of those characters are very similar to Hood and each other and those are the points that will be highlighted in this essay. Hood put aspects of himself in Jive, Carna, Marr, and Rictus but that what he put into the first three are the most important. Carna and Hood seem very similar in the way that they are both very harsh.
In President Lincoln’s “Gettysburg Address,” he effectively uses juxtaposition to make an emotional appeal so that his audience would feel a sense of remorse. In the second paragraph, Lincoln contrasts the deaths of the soldiers to a nation that might live. For example, he states that the field was “... a final resting place for those who here gave their lives that that nation might live.” Lincoln is saying that the soldiers fought a war so that the nation would have a chance of unifying. By using juxtaposition, Lincoln wants to evoke a sense of guilt in the audience because the soldiers gallantly fought a war just so the rest of the nation can experience the freedom and equality that they had hoped for.

Like most places, Maycomb County, Alabama was full of hardworking people of integrity, as well as dishonest, indolent citizens. Atticus, a distinguished lawyer, raised his two kids, Scout and Jem, to be disciplined youth, practicing honest morals. Everyone in Maycomb admired Atticus for his respectable character, just as they all abhorred the Ewell family, for their cheating and lying ways. However, Atticus’ prominent role in town was suddenly challenged when he was chosen to defend in court Tom Robinson, a black man whom Mayella Ewell accused him of taking advantage of her. Eyes that once looked up to Atticus with deep admiration, now glared at him in disgust.
One of the major motifs that is displayed when this quote is examined extensively is the outrageous racism in this novel directed to negroes in the way they live in Maycomb. One example of this racism is the outcome of the Tom Robinson trial being guilty by the decision of the prejudiced jury whose members were a part of an atrocious group that goes by the name of “The Old Sarum Group”. Another one of the major motifs that is displayed is “Good and Evil”. An example of a “good” person is Atticus or Miss Maudie and an example of an “evil” person is Bob Ewell or Mr. Cunningham. Atticus would be considered a “good” person because he performs various acts of kindness and bravery every day such as defending Tom in his case against Bob and Mayella Ewell in hopes that racial equality will prevail and prove Tom's innocence.
In all facets of human life there is a constant pressure. One of the most potent forms of this is peer pressure. It affects how humans make decisions, in all facets of an everyday life. While Miller and Josh are trying to come up with a plan, Miller discovers that they both cannot have a strong say so he states, “There must be some white men in the town who would stand for law and order” (125). Both of these characters have a determined personality along with their race so when the conflict arises in the riot, both of them play key roles in different viewpoints which causes chaos among the people. The Outsiders, written by the brilliant author S.E.Hinton is about the conflict between two rival gangs, the greasers, and the Socs. The main protagonist, Ponyboy is a greaser, who is portrayed as poor and distinguished by their greasy hair. Whereas the Socs is portrayed as rich and distinguished by their rich clothes and cars. The interesting part, however, is that Cherry Valance, a soc, described the Socs to be emotionless and apathetic, which led them to use violence to express their feelings. On the other side, Cherry characterized the greasers to be too emotional which led them to antagonize the Socs and causing conflicts.
