An individual I have decided to discuss for this perspectives report is known to many and is my favorite actor, Robin Williams. He thoroughly enjoyed entertaining others and making them laugh, so why would he not find a profession in comedy. However, what many do not know is that Robin suffered from severe depression, addictions, and dementia. That is why I have decided to write about Robin Williams. He is well known for his comedian side, but not many know him by his depressed and more intense side. Furthermore, Robin died at the age of 63 from suicide on August 11, 2014, which had shocked many people. Throughout his life, Robin had to earn his chances in the spotlight and did all he could to earn his fame. What many do not understand is that with fame comes a lot of stress. For the first couple of years, when Robin was under stress he turned toward drugs and alcohol, which led him to become addicted for over two decades. However, the death of Robin is very unique. I have watched the television shows and biographies of Robin’s death and autopsy reports. What very few new was the fact Robin’s suicide was due to hanging himself the same way his character’s son did in one of his recent movies, World’s Greatest Dad. Before committing his unforeseen suicide, Robin knew something was not right and was struggling with his intrapersonal functioning, as stated in his biography video of August 26. He would cause harm to himself or make a mess, then treat himself and clean up the mess immediately after. That is just one of the few examples to help represent Robins struggle.
