“The Great Gatsby” is a 1925 novel by American writer F. Scott Fitzgerald, surrounded by the protagonist, Jay Gatsby, a fabulously wealthy young man but a dreamer with grandiose ideas. Jay Gatsby embodies the characteristics of a romantic hero through his relentless pursuit of love for Daisy Buchanan. First of all, Jay Gatsby is a character of extremes, specifically his obsession with Daisy Buchanan. “He had waited for five years and bought a mansion where he dispensed starlight to casual moths - so that he could ‘come over' some afternoon to a stranger's garden." The quotation indicated that Gatsby has still not moved on from Daisy, as in the past five years, which is an excessive amount of time, he has stayed faithful to only Daisy and insisted on claiming her back. …show more content…

In arranging to meet Daisy, Gatsby paid attention to every detail. He asked Jordan to ask Nick to ask Daisy to tea at Nick's house because Gatsby wants Daisy to visit Nick's house as it is beside Gatsby's mansion.
