Romeo is talking about his relationship to Tybalt by marriage. Because of his marriage to Juliet, he and Tybalt are now related. He says that he loves Tybalt more than Tybalt could ever know and that Tybalt will not understand the reason for his love. This makes Mercutio frustrated because Tybalt has just insulted Romeo and now Romeo is saying that he loves Tybalt. Now Mercutio thinks that Romeo is submitting to these insults and believes him to be a disgrace for not standing up for himself and his family.
Mercutio’s personality is revealed through these lines because when he is hurt and dying he is making puns with his last breath which shows his humorous personality. He says, “Ask for me to-morrow and you shall find me a grave man” (166). Mercutio means that his situation is grave and serious, and he is going to die and be put into a grave to be buried tomorrow. She says, “Did ever a dragon keep so fair a cave? Beautiful tyrant! Fiend angelical!” (178). This shows the feeling that Juliet has about Romeo and how he could be a terrible person for killing Tybalt, but he is also Juliet’s husband and she loves him more than anything else. This echos Friar Lawrence’s comments about the flower because the flower will strengthen you if you smell it but will kill you if you eat it. It has two very different effects just like Romeo made Juliet so angry and sad because he killed Tybalt, but at the same time he made her so happy and she loved him so much.
Juliet convinces herself to support and forgive Romeo for killing her cousin by realizing that if Romeo hadn’t killed Tybalt then Tybalt would have killed Romeo. She decides that she would rather have Romeo alive and that Tybalt was the villain for trying to kill her husband. She forgives him because he was defending his own
