The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet The ‘’Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet’’ by Shakespeare is a play about two protagonist lovers from different families who fell in love with each other and as the play goes on they have to deal with many consequences. The most difficult conflict that they have to deal with is their family feud that has been going on for years. The family feud is worse than any other conflicts and most important the feud between two familes can ruin the relationship between Romeo and Juliet. If the Capulets and Montagues had resolved their differences, both Romeo and Juliet would have live to have a happy life. Wherefore art thou Romeo? Deny thy father and refuse thy name; Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love, And I'll no longer be a Capulet’’. In this quote Juliet is trying to say to Romeo that forget about who you are, who you’re father is, and where do you belong. Or else, if he doesn’t change his name so she swear that she will stop being a Capulet. Juliet doesn’t care if she needs to leave her own family for Rome’s love. She struggles with the conflict between her feelings for Romeo and her knowledge that he is an enemy of her family. In this quote Juliet says that ‘’ Wherefore art thou Romeo?’’. She is basically asking herself that why the love of her life needs to be from the Montague’s family. The fourth conflict happens when Romeo states his quote in Act V, Scene I, "Then I defy you, stars!”. Romeo and Juliet are identified in the prologue as 'star-crossed lovers'. Meaning that the stars are against the true lovers. The idea is that our destinies are fixed in the stars. The stars didn't want Romeo and Juliet to get together. Defying the stars is like defying destiny itself. There will be even worse problems in the future because both Romeo and Juliet fate is against them.
