Romeo and Juliet Argumentative Essay Love is not always filled with happiness with rainbows and unicorns, instead, at times, love is filled devastating twists and turns. In the famous play, Romeo and Juliet, which is written by William Shakespeare, shows many examples of the struggles with love. The genre of this play would be a tragedy that takes place in Verona, Italy. The play is about two main characters, Romeo and Juliet, who keep a secret relationship from their parents. Unfortunately, life is not easy and instead, their parents are actually in a feud. Juliet is from House Capulet, while Romeo is from House Montague. Some evidence to support this argument would be this quote. "Romeo 's friends, who wish to see him lifted above his melancholy, urge him to stop philosophizing about his lost love and to seek another young lady as a new object of his affections." (Dupler 1). This quote is basically describing what is going on before Lord Capulet 's party starts. Essentially what is going on during this time is that Mercutio and Benvolio are forcing Romeo to go to a party so he can invest his time in a new girl instead of moping about Rosaline, who is the girl Romeo loved before. If they had never urged Romeo to go to the party, he most likely wouldn 't have gone to the party, and had never met Juliet, thus stopping the unfortunate events that were to happen next. Another example would be the event where Mercutio gets killed by Tybalt. Since Romeo’s best friend dies, he gets extremely angered, causing him to kill Tybalt. This event could have been easily avoided by Mercutio choosing his actions differently and wisely to avoid getting killed by Tybalt, or he could have calmed down instead of engaging in violence. Because Mercutio dies, Romeo gets out of control and ends up killing Tybalt, therefore getting him banished.
