One of the many stories about love turning into tragedy is the well known play, “Romeo and Juliet”, by Shakespeare.
After he told Romeo that Juliet was dead, Romeo was so sad that he bought poison from an apothecary who first refused to sell poison to him but as a lower class citizen he could not refuse the hefty money Romeo was paying. Romeo bought the poison to end his misery. One of the biggest mistakes that caused Romeo and Juliet to have a unsuccessful relationship was their parents. Since the Capulet's and the Montague's were feuding, Romeo and Juliet could not express their true love for each other openly and could tell their parents how they really felt about each other. Another mistake was when Romeo got banished, Juliet an Friar Laurence had to think of a master plan to get them together somehow, and the plan the undertook was very dangerous.
Romeo and Juliet, although hailed as the best work of romantic literature, has many problems. Romeo and Juliet are impulsive in their actions and thoughts. Neither character thinks their decisions through and overall they spend just three days together. They both make rash decisions because they don't understand what love is. These rash decisions show that they don't truly love each other.
The play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare was a complete tragedy. They met at a ball, fell in love, and then took their own lives for one another. It was truly heartbreaking, but it was their own foolish decisions that ended up killing them. Each and every day, people make sacrifices for their loved ones. Maybe they choose to get up earlier in order to do chores or miss an important meeting so that they would have time for each other. There is no greater example of sacrifices for loved ones than in Romeo and Juliet however, where Shakespeare explores two star-crossed lovers, Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet, who come from two families that have a deep hatred towards each other. The pair meet each other, secretly wed, and then in order to stay together, commit suicide out of despair and distress. Through Romeo and Juliet’s acts of defiance and sacrifice, Shakespeare proves that while hate has the power to destroy and kill, love is even more powerful as it has the power to transform.
Although the most popular relationship of the piece, Romeo and Juliet’s courtship in “Romeo and Juliet” was arguably one of the most unhealthy relationships of the play, and one of the most unhealthy in general. In this play, “Romeo and Juliet”, written by William Shakespeare, there are several examples of both good and bad relationships. When these two young lovers see each other at a party, they immediately become attracted to each other. Romeo is a romantic and is so in love with Juliet, but it somehow brings her a lot of trouble, and disappointment. Juliet is the type of person that sees the good in everyone, and everything. She thinks everything is beautiful in it’s own way, and there is no evil. Friar Laurence is a hypocritical man, that somewhat enjoys evil and what it has to offer. Throughout Romeo and Juliet the theme of conflict is imparted in many forms, mostly through physical violence; a reflection of the Renaissance era in which there was political turmoil and a copious amount of European nations were at war. Shakespeare chose to dramatise the theme of conflict to showcase the ideology that conflict is inevitable and represent how “there can never be the good without the bad” (Hipponensi).Shakespeare successfully does so by exploring the theme of conflict in different forms; violence versus peace, parent versus child, sacred versus profane and inner conflict.
