The story of Romeo and Juliet is a tragic love story, in which two star-crossed lovers from rival families fall in love. Romeo is from the Montague family, and Juliet is from the rich Capulet family. In this essay, I will be explaining why the love Romeo and Juliet feel for each other is just a childhood crush, and nothing serious.
To begin this topic, the love these two characters feel for each other is fake because they both only love each other because of their looks. In the play, Romeo and Juliet dance together, and instantly fall in love. Romeo starts talking about how beautiful Juliet is. “If I profane with my unworthiest hand, this holy shrine, the gentle sin is this: My lips, two blushing pilgrims, ready stand to smooth that rough …show more content…

One example would be when Mercutio was slain by Tybalt. Romeo let his rage guide his actions, killing Tybalt. “Away to heaven, respective lenity, and fire-eyed fury be my conduct now. Juliet also only loves Romeo for his looks.“Beauty makes it possible for lovers to see how to make love in the dark.” (No fear Shakespeare 3.2. 35-36). They only just met, and they both already deeply show their love for each other.
Some argue that the love Romeo and Juliet feel towards each other is in fact real because they are willing to die for each other. This is true, but Romeo tried to kill himself instead of going to see Juliet and comfort her. “Tell me, that I may sack the hateful mansion! (He draws his dagger)” (Rom. 3.3 107-108). The Friar tells Romeo that he is not a man if he doesn’t go to comfort his love, Juliet. “Art thou a man? Thy form cries out thou art! Thy tears are womanish, thy wild acts denote the unreasonable fury of a beast.”
