Romeo and Juliet personify the passion and wistfulness of true love, yet Romeo and Juliet is not a genuine love story. Although the typical romance novel centers around the beauty and everlasting happiness that love procures, the story is alternatively wrought with conflict and sadness. Romeo and Juliet is a love story, but fails to be a genuine romance novel. A love story contains some but not all of the elements of a Romance Novel. Romeo and Juliet fail exemplify a love story because Juliet is not a heroine.

By the tremendous amount of hatred between the two families, the idea of the two lovers being the main part of the Romance gets lost. With the dramatic end to a love story, it leaves the reader thinking about the love that was shared between the two, and its extremity, creating a lasting unique reputation for the story. “For never was a story of more woe. Than this of Juliet and her Romeo” The Romance between the two main characters proves that love does not have to be one-dimensional.
