‘Romeo and Juliet’, written by William Shakespeare, is now recognized as one of the best literature work. It elaborately depicts the grief of Romeo caused by the love that can’t be accepted. Also, by giving each character the unique traits, this literature work presents the dramatic and various incidents in details. Even though there are lots of characters that have peculiar traits, there is a one character that outstands on its characteristics, Romeo. In ‘Romeo and Juliet’, written by William Shakespeare, Romeo, the protagonist, presents the traits of being impulsive, emotional, and idealistic.
In this play Romeo demonstrates his trait of being impulsive throughout act 1. On scene one, when Romeo appears for the first time, he is in grief for Rosaline, his beloved woman, doesn’t accept propose of his. As Montague asserts ‘And private in his chamber pens himself, Shuts up his windows, locks fair daylight out, And makes himself an artificial night Black and portentous must this humor prove. Throughout the act1, Romeo tries to fulfill his dream, which is to find an ideal girl he loves. He first thinks that Rosaline is a woman that he craves. Accordingly, Romeo rejects the offer to go to the party, as he thinks that Rosaline is the only woman. Furthermore, there is another fact that proves that Romeo is idealistic, which is how he loves Juliet. According to the information from act1, Capulet and Montague families are foes to each other. However, Romeo, member of Montague, does not seem to give up loving her, even though there might be a restriction when he loves Juliet, who is the member of the Capulet.
