“From forth the fatal loins of these two foes a pair of star-crossed lovers take their life, whose misadventured piteous overthrows doth with their death bury their parents’ strife.” (Romeo and Juliet 4-7) Within the first 10 lines of William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet he tells us exactly what will happen; his intention was never to mislead you or lie. Shakespeare sets the perfect stage for dramatic irony, yet the deaths of the star-crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet, astound us. Somehow through the telling of their short, but deep love we get lost and forget that their unfortunate fate is death. In Romeo and Juliet, the tale of how a heart broken boy meets a beautiful girl and how they fall in love is recounted. A story like this has been told time and time again, however we must not forget that their story is a tragedy and that they can never live happily ever after. …show more content…

I think that Shakespeare wanted us to realize that love’s blinding light though it may be beautiful can leave us stumbling through the darkness. In Romeo and Juliet every character loves someone or something whether that be their children, friends or their soul mate; their loves were so strong for each other that it made them make atrocious decisions that I believe led to not only their “fate”, but also their friends’ and families’ untimely deaths. Although it may have been misguided, often in Romeo and Juliet their parents made the decisions they made out of love for their children.
