Is it at all possible in this mystical human world that there is such a thing as love at first sight? Some believe it to be true, others not so much. It is a hard concept to comprehend. After all not all minds think alike. Some people are one type of lover, and others are another. In our story The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, Romeo is an Eros, and Juliet is a Mania. One reason why Romeo is an Eros lover is because he fell in love with Juliet “at first sight” (Shakespeare Act 1). Romeo had liked Rosaline before hand, but the instant he saw Juliet he fell in love. She is a Mania lover because she would kill herself if she had to be married to Paris and couldn’t be with her true love Romeo. Juliet even says, “I long to die,” (Shakespeare Act 4). She says this to the Friar after she learns her father has arranged for her to marry Paris. Another reason why Juliet is a Mania lover is because she had a difficult relationship with her parents. “Out you green sickness carrion, you baggage, you tallow-face” (Shakespeare Act 3). Mr. Capulet says these nasty things to Juliet simply because Juliet doesn’t want to marry Paris. No parent should ever say something like that to their child no matter how mad they are. This shows that the 2 are not very close and have a difficult relationship. Romeo is an Eros lover and Juliet is a Mania. Different lovers, but like in science opposites attract. Both Romeo and Juliet would die for each other. In the end both will die believing the other is dead and not wanting to live with out them.
