Act 1: Act 1 opens with Gregory and Sampson who are Capulet men, in a Verona marketplace. They proceed to pick a fight with a Montague servant. A street brawl erupts which is temporarily halted by Benvolio who is one of Romeo's best friends. Tybalt arrives and starts the fight up again. Brief moments of fighting later and the Prince of Verona himself stops the fight. Telling both families that if it were to happen again all who were involved be executed. The end of scene 1 sees Romeo in a very depressed state. Romeo has been left by the “love of his life” Rosaline. He declares no one can fill the hole in his heart but her. Mercutio and Benvolio convince Romeo to attend the Capulets party to prove to him there are other women in Verona. As they …show more content…

They come upon a group of Capulets, Tybalt in the mix. Tybalt asks for Romeo so that he can slay him. Mercutio tries to talk with Tybalt to no prevail. Romeo enters the scene after just been married to Juliet. Tybalt tries to fight him. Romeo refuses telling him they are family now and he will not fight back. Mercutio jumps in to protect his friend Romeo. After much swordplay, Tybalt slays Mercutio under Romeo's hand. Mercutio dies slowly in Romeo's arms, cursing both families. Romeo attacks Tybalt in a fit of rage, knowing that he killed his good friend Mercutio. Tybalt is killed by Romeo. The Prince declares that Romeo be executed. Benvolio then explains that Tybalt had killed Mercutio and caused this. Instead the Prince Banishes Romeo from Verona, never to come back. The Nurse rushes to Juliet telling her that Romeo had killed Tybalt. She turns against her husband calling him a snake. The Nurse agrees and Juliet lashes out at her for talking bad about Romeo. Juliet main focus now is on her husband's banishment. While this is happening Lady Capulet talks with Paris and plans to marry him and Juliet that very Thursday. Romeo and Juliet spend their final moments together in Friar Lawrence's cell. The Nurse arrives to tell Juliet it is time to leave. Romeo exits through the window, with the hope of seeing his love
