Romeo Montague is a young man who has many different views on love. In the play Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare creates a confused character that believes many different things about this intense feeling, but also believes the opposite. Romeo states that we are not supposed to control who we fall in love with, but we can still choose to love whoever we want. He also says that this feeling is happy but also sad. This feeling of affection is known to confuse people like young Romeo causing him to be sad and lonely. Romeo feels one is not supposed to control who they develop strong feelings for, but they can still choose who they fall in love with.
