After reading Act 2 Scene 2 in “Romeo and Juliet” by William Shakespeare and the non-fiction article, “A chronicle of Afghanistan’s modern-day Romeo and Juliet” one common message that readers can learn is that love knows no boundaries. In the play, “Romeo and Juliet”, Juliet state, “Three words, dear Romeo, and good night indeed. If that thy bent of love be honorable, thy purpose marriage, send me word tomorrow, by one that I’ll procure to come to thee, where and what time thou wilt perform the rite, and all my fortunes at thy foot I’ll lay and follow thee my lord throughout the world” (Shakespeare page 7). Juliet then overhears this and is startled but nonetheless happy to see Romeo. They converse more about how fond they are of each other and then Juliet says she will send a messenger out to him at 9 o’clock tomorrow to retrieve his answer if they will marry or not. This supports the message “love knows no boundaries” because even though Romeo and Juliet's families rival each other harshly they are still so passionate about each other and will go as far as to be married in secret if that means they can be together.
