William Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’ was set in the 1300s. Even so, many of the themes and ideas in the play are still relevant today. In all, love plays a huge role in the play Romeo and Juliet through Romeo and Juliet’s love for each other shown escepically in Act 2, Scene 2, and the love that other characters have for other things. Love is a stronger force than fate in Romeo and Juliet. This is shown in the last lines of the play as Prince Escalus addresses the citizens of Verona, "A glooming peace this morning with it brings"(5.3.231). After this, even though their children had just died, the Capulets and Montagues end the feud because of the love between Romeo and Juliet that lead to their deaths.
