Rosalind Franklin: A True Leader in Chemistry

Rosalind Franklin was a true leader because she helped us with the understanding of DNA. She was born on July 25, 1920 and died April 16, 1958. she is most famous for her work with Photo 51, a picture taken by Raymond Gosling. Franklin is also famous for her work with finding the Tobacco Mosaic Virus. This virus is an RNA molecular virus. Other examples on why Rosalind was a true leader are because she was well educated growing up, adapted well to changes in her life, and she was consistent with her steps in wanting to become a scientist. Rosalind was a true leader because of all of her leadership qualities.

One reason why Rosalind Franklin was a true leader is because she was well educated growing up. For example, Rosalind Franklin enrolled at Norland Place in 1926 and Lindores School for Young Ladies in 1929. She excelled in almost all of her subjects (especially science). One of the most important examples of this was that Rosalind Franklin had attended about seven different schools in her lifetime. Franklin had to go to multiple changes and adapt to each new place. Rosalind made friends quite easily and they helped support her and so did her family. Also, not only had Rosalind Franklin been through changes with many schools, but with jobs too. Rosalind had been through about three different jobs in her life. It explains that “She volunteered as an Air Raid Warden and made patrols to see the welfare of people during air raids.” (wikipedia.com) Furthermore, Rosalind went through a major change when she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She adapted and was flexible by working as long as she could and splitting all of her money between friends, family, and charity before she died.
