Yesterday, Sloan Jackson, age 18 was put on trial for stealing a shirt from Famous Fashions in Merchandise Mall. He then was found sitting next to the yogurt stand and the shirt was found in a trash barrel near the yogurt stand. At the trial yesterday the jury came to a verdict of being guilty after talking in the jury room for about 10 minutes.

Eyewitness Bennett Barbour was a 22 year old, black male who was charged and convicted of rape in the state of Virginia. Barbour fought for over thirty years o clear his good name. Barbour was sentenced on for the alleged rape on April 15 of the same year. Bennett received a ten-year sentence for which he served four and a half years in prison. Barbour was exonerated on May 24, 2012.

In regards to the Brent Small case, I personally believe that Mr. Smalls shouldn't be found guilty due to the lack of evidence. Although there was a witness who saw what happened, the evidence isn’t consistent with the case. The vehicle did match the description but the witness was unsure of the license plate and the damage to the vehicle isn’t significant to the crime committed. I don't believe that the evidence is strong enough to convict Mr. Smalls.
Though I did not know exactly what Downtown Inc. wanted to achieve in this negotiation, I used the information given to determine their general mindset, which seemed to be to maintain the integrity of the houses. Early in the negotiation the seller made it clear that they strictly wanted to keep the property as a residential property this seemed to be in direct conflict with my client’s plans to create a hotel. However, I decided that I would not share this information with Downtown since this would inevitably have led to the deal completely falling through). With all of this in mind, I determined that I would try influencing Downtown to agree to a deal in which the exterior of the houses would remain untouched, and that my client would have free range with the rest of their plans.
