Religion plays a powerful role in our everyday lives, but there are many things wrong with religion in our society. Religion has caused wars, religion is being used as an excuse, to discriminate against people with the opposite viewpoint, religion is filling people with fear, religion is turning people against themselves, religion is turning people against each other. In the Judaist faith the idea of Holy War occurs in the Hebrew Bible, however it was not about making others Jewish, but about survival. As we learn in history, Jews has been victim of persecution. The Palestinians and Jews has been fighting over the promised land of which is also known as Holy War.
Islamic teaching is often misunderstood in the West, particularly when it comes Jihad. There are four kinds of Jihad, personal spiritual and moral struggle in order to overcome self centeredness and follow the teachings of the Qur’an; calm preaching and, righteous behaviour that witness to the unbeliever about the way of Islam, and war against those who oppress or persecute believers, of course there are people in the Islamic faith who misunderstand the teaching of their prophet Mohammed.
